Call For Papers

The fourth London International Boundary Conference ("LIBC") will take place on 2 and 3 April 2019 at the King's College Strand campus in London. The LIBC 2019 will provide a unique and multidisciplinary insight into the complex world of international boundary and territorial questions. Like previous LIBC conferences, during this edition of the LIBC speakers and participants will be drawn from the fields of law, social sciences, physical sciences and diplomacy.

Volterra Fietta (the public international law firm) and King's College London (the Department of Geography) invite scholars, practitioners, government officials and others who are interested in the field of international boundaries to submit an abstract to info@LondonInternationalBoundaryConference.com.

The deadline for submissions is 10 December 2018. This abstract should be written in English and contain no more than 500 words. It should include the title of the paper, the preferred panel as well as the name, title, affiliation and contact details of the author.

Interested parties may submit an abstract on one of the following topics:

  1. Physical and emotional boundaries post Brexit
  2. Borders and mobility/Building fences and barriers on land and at sea
  3. Topical boundary-related aspects of the Law of the Sea
  4. The Global Commons and the Oceans/Beyond the 200m limit
  5. The Curious Incidence of Islands in the sea
  6. Contemplating the Middle Eastern border

Once abstracts have been reviewed, authors of selected abstracts will be invited to submit their paper and participate in one of the conference panels.
